Antibiotic Pills & Drugs

Question:

My mother 75, is having severe side effects to the precribed meds. for H-Pylori infection. She was taken off Flagel which caused severe side effects. Currently on Leviquin and Bioxin which are also giving her severe side effects (she was seen in the emgergency room this morning and released) Her doctor said to continue with these meds. but to cut the doses in half. Is this common? I there any other treatment for one with such senitivity? She`s never been one to complain, yet she says she would rather die than feel the effects of these antibiotics. Help!

Question:

I have SLE - diagnosed two years ago and am currently not working. Muscle pain, fatigue, bruising, hair loss, diffuculty concentrating, and an high ANA - 2835 - are some of the ongoing symtoms. On several occasions I have taken antibiotics for other infections and felt my lupus symtoms disappear. I wonder if the antibiotics are "aiding" my over reactive immune system and allowing the immune system to "rest" during these periods, thus causing decreased lupus symtoms. Any research being done in this area?

Question:

    Hi. I began taking Ortho Tri Cyclen two days ago for birth control, and also for what I hear it helps acne. I was seeing a dermatologist before I went to the gyno, and he gave me an antibiotic called Doryx for my acne. I read that while taking Doryx, the pill could be less effective. I also read online that I could take both but it would take some time for the pill to be effective and for the Doryx not to conflict. I first considered giving up the Doryx to go on the pill to see if my acne was hormonal, but I`m already going on month two of Doryx. I don`t want to get pregnant either! So how long does it take for the pill and the Doryx to NOT conflict with each other so I won`t have to use condoms in order to avoid pregnancy? Or will they always conflict?

Question:

    I had bronchitis in March and was given Biaxin XL. That worked well to clear up the bronchitis. I got it again in May and my doctor gave me amoxicillin. That didn`t work at all and I still have the bronchitis. This week he gave me Biaxin again. My cough and chest pains are not as bad so the Biaxin is working again. What is the difference between the two antibiotics? Why didn`t the amoxacillin work?
